Using a tenon saw you cut the desired length of wood for your herb stripper.

Using a Shinto and other shaped rasps the handle is shaped to fit your hand.


Drilling

Use a hand drill to bore different size holes into your wood.


Sanding

Sanding

Various grits of sandpaper is then used to smooth the wood.

The next step involves applying food safe oil to seal the wood and reveal the grain of the wood.

In this hands-on woodworking class, dive in the wonderful world of woodcraft as you create your very own herb stripper from scratch. Discover the thrill of working with natural materials and learning how to craft a functional and beautiful piece that you can proudly use in the kitchen.
If you're new to woodworking, no problem! Our experienced instructors will guide you through each step, making sure you feel confident and supported throughout the workshop.
With a hands-on approach and plenty of encouragement, this activity promises to be both rewarding and enjoyable. By the end of the workshop, you'll walk away with a unique herb stripper that you've personally handcrafted, ready to use in your cooking adventures.
This workshop has two locations. Please choose venue depending upon group size:
  • This workshop is available only at Millgum Farm for up to 8 participants.
  • This workshop is available only at Helena River Steiner School for more than 9 participants.
This workshop it is also available as a one to one workshop.

No prior woodworking knowledge or skills are required.

You are required to wear enclosed shoes, tie back your hair, and avoid wearing loose clothing.

I founded Yol Creative in 2024 to provide art and woodwork workshops, aiming to empower individuals to explore their creative potential and foster a sense of community.
With a solid foundation in creativity cultivated at a Rudolph Steiner School in Switzerland and a double major in Fine Art from the University of Western Australia, I teach woodwork, sculpture, and art at three Steiner Schools.
At West Coast, Silvertree, and Helena River Steiner Schools, I have developed engaging woodwork programs, including a homeschooling initiative at Helena River Steiner School.
Workshops are held at Millgum Farm in the Swan Valley or at Helena River Steiner School depending on the number of participants.
